Downtown Gilbert Heritage District

Downtown Gilbert’s “Heritage District” — a walkable, historic-feeling core with lots of local shopping and places to hang out.

About

Locals often call downtown Gilbert the Heritage District. The Town of Gilbert describes the district as about 0.3 square miles (192 acres) and lays out its general boundaries using major streets and nearby geographic limits (including Gilbert Road, Juniper Avenue, and Elliot Road, plus areas around the Western Canal). It’s also an area with an adopted set of Heritage District Design Guidelines (approved March 2, 2021).

Why stop: Great for an easy downtown stroll—shopping, local vibes, and the historic district feel all in one area.

Good to know: The Heritage District is defined by the Town using major streets/geographic limits rather than a single exact street-corner address.
