1. Our privacy approach
BizFaves is a free community directory. We collect only the information reasonably needed to operate accounts, publish business listings, provide favorites, prevent abuse, and improve the service. We do not sell personal information. We do not rent member lists to advertisers, and we do not use personal information to “take over the world.”
This policy applies to BizFaves websites, profiles, directory pages, account tools, and related communications. By using BizFaves, you acknowledge the practices described here.
2. Information you provide
When you create an account, we receive details such as your display name, username, email address, and password. Passwords are stored as one-way cryptographic hashes rather than readable text. You may optionally add a profile photo, biography, website, or public profile setting.
When you submit or edit a listing, we receive the business name, description, address, contact details, links, services, keywords, nearby towns, and images you choose to provide. Listing control is used for account management but is not displayed publicly. When you save a fave, we store the connection between your account and that listing.
3. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our server may record technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, requested pages, timestamps, referring pages, and error details. We may use essential cookies or similar browser storage to maintain a signed-in session, remember a light or dark theme preference, protect forms, and support basic security.
We may use aggregated measurements to understand whether pages load correctly, which directory features are useful, and where the service needs improvement. We do not need to know everything about you to make BizFaves useful.
4. How information is used
We use information to create and secure accounts; publish and search directory listings; display optional public profiles and faves; allow owners to manage listings; respond to support requests; detect fraud, spam, scraping, or misuse; maintain backups; comply with law; and improve performance, accessibility, and relevance.
Business information submitted for publication is public by design. Before posting a personal phone number, home address, personal email, or image, make sure it is appropriate to appear publicly.
5. When information may be shared
We may share limited information with service providers that help us host, secure, back up, maintain, or process payments for BizFaves. Featured-placement payments made through PayPal or Venmo are handled under that provider’s privacy practices; BizFaves stores the requested payment method and activation status, not payment credentials. Providers may use information only to perform their services and must handle it appropriately. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect users or the public, investigate abuse, or defend the rights and security of BizFaves.
If BizFaves is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to appropriate notice and protections. We do not sell personal information for money or cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Public information and outside links
Published listings, public usernames, public profile details, and public fave lists can be viewed, indexed, copied, or shared by others. Changing a profile to private stops future public display on BizFaves, but it cannot retrieve copies already saved elsewhere.
Listings may link to websites, menus, calendars, ordering providers, maps, and other third-party services. Their privacy practices are controlled by them, not BizFaves. Review their policies before providing information or making a purchase.
7. Retention and security
We keep account and listing information while it is needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, meet legal obligations, or maintain legitimate backups. Removed content may remain in protected backups for a limited period before routine deletion. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet service can promise absolute security.
You are responsible for using a strong, unique password and keeping account credentials private. Contact us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
8. Your choices
You can edit or remove listings you own from your control panel. You can choose whether your profile is public, update your profile details, and add or remove faves. You may request access, correction, or deletion of account information by emailing us. We may need to verify your identity and retain limited records when required for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
9. Children, location, and changes
BizFaves is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The service is operated in the United States; information may be processed and stored there. We may update this policy as the service changes. Material changes will be reflected by a new date and, when appropriate, an additional notice.
10. Contact us
Questions or privacy requests can be sent to cs@bizfaves.com. Please describe your request clearly and avoid emailing passwords or other sensitive credentials.
